PRIČIGIN in guests: The Power of Live Narration
Pričigin is a storytelling festival launched in Split in 2007, allowing participants - writers, journalists, actors, musicians, and others - to tell their original stories live, without written aids, for about 10 minutes each.
The stories, often humorous in nature, caricature everyday life and break stereotypes, making Pričigin a unique festival that celebrates oral culture and connects the audience through spoken word. With the project "Pričigin in Guests," the festival expands beyond Split, allowing storytelling enthusiasts in other parts of Croatia to enjoy the art of storytelling.
This time, Pričigin is visiting Zagreb as part of the Slavic Soundwalking project, as both platforms share a love for storytelling in short audio format. On this occasion, Pričigin will gather guest authors whose short stories are part of the Slavic Soundwalking mobile application.
CRY BABIES, Concert
A rock cover band with a 25-year history of innovative arrangements of lyrics and music, their intense performances form the cornerstone of their reputation.
Their identity is built on bold, imaginative, witty, and entertaining, yet heavy and dark renditions of songs from various musical styles - in their distinct, rock-inspired way. They are recipients of the Fender Mega Music Award for Best Club Band. Some of their well-known covers include "I Remember Only Happy Days," "He Loves Me His Way," "From the Other Side," "She Didn't Want," "She Threw Everything Down the River," "Fly Me to the Moon," and many others.
PANEL DISCUSSION
“How Much Do We Read Each Other”
The discussion at the panel will focus on problematizing the position of South Slavic literature as ours or theirs, local or global, serving as a framework to answer the question of how much we read each other. Based on data, we will strive to find answers as to why this is the case and open the question of reading neighbors in the context of democracy development and "national" literature.
WORKSHOP
“Write a Short Story”
All those who already write or are about to start can participate in the short story competition, the call for which is published on the website slavicsoundwalking.eu. Interested individuals can submit their stories to slavicsoundwalking@gmail.com according to the terms of the call. Authors whose stories are selected will be invited to a workshop where they will refine and polish them with the assistance of writer Ksenija Kušec. The announcement of the best stories and a public reading will take place the same evening as part of the workshop. The workshop is free and open to the public.
SMALL PANEL DISCUSSION
“Razgovori ugodni s Ivanom, Oljom i Stašom”
At a small panel in the Memorial Apartment of Marija Jurić Zagorka, three exceptional writers - Ivana Bodrožić, Olja Savičević Ivančević, and Staša Aras - share their experiences, discuss their literary work, inspiration, and the themes they explore in their stories and poetry. This intimate panel offers an opportunity for reflection on contemporary literature and opens space for contemplating the role of female writers in shaping social issues and cultural perspectives. Moderated by the young and versatile, equally exceptional author Hana Kunić, these three writers intimately reveal their thoughts and inspirations, sharing their unique voices with the audience.
PANEL DISCUSSION
“Pozitivni i negativni elementi digitalne transformacije u području književnosti”
The panel will discuss the positive and negative aspects of digitization in literature. Digitalization reduces costs and enables broader access to literary content, including accessibility for people with disabilities. However, the question arises whether there is a difference in the perception of literary works when read from paper compared to digital devices, and whether there is a difference between reading and listening to the same content. Also, will we focus only on listening to the book or will we simultaneously engage in other activities? The panel will provide the audience with an opportunity to express their opinions and preferences regarding the consumption of literature.
WORKSHOP
“Moj prvi zvuk”
At the workshop "My First Sound," participants will have the opportunity to learn the basics of sound creation, transmission, and processing. They will discover how and why sound is produced, how it propagates, methods of recording and synthesizing sound, differences between analog and digital recording, basics of pitch, harmony, and distortion, as well as how the human ear and brain perceive sound binaurally. Workshop leader Gordan Antić, a multimedia artist and producer, will guide participants through the process of creating their first sound. The workshop is free, but due to limited space (up to 20 participants), registration is required via email: slavicsoundwalking@gmail.com.
PANEL DISCUSSION
“Inkluzija u kulturi”
The panel will discuss accessibility in culture for people with disabilities, including ensuring access to cultural content and architectural accessibility. The panel will address why accessibility is important, who the key stakeholders are in ensuring it, how to raise awareness of the importance of accessible content, and what are the key steps to achieve complete accessibility of cultural content.
WORKSHOP
“Upoznajte hrvatski znakovni jezik i kulturu gluhih”
This workshop, led by Kiara Vrljić from the Croatian Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, will be held at the KNAP Center. The workshop's focus is on introducing participants to the basics of Croatian Sign Language and Deaf culture, providing an excellent opportunity to acquire new communication skills, raise awareness of the importance of sign language, and gain a better understanding of the deaf community. Admission is free.
STORUTELLING
“Basne i bajke za djecu”
The storytelling session will gather the youngest audience members to enjoy the magic of classic and new stories, nurturing a love for reading and fostering imagination and creativity. This interactive gathering combines reading with sound elements to allow the youngest ones to explore the world of literature in an engaging way.
SOUNDWALKING
During the soundwalk, participants will visit various urban locations where they will unlock audio recordings of urban stories. These stories, while not directly related to specific locations, are set up to enrich the walking experience and provide a new perspective on the contemporary urban literary scene.
