On Wednesday, July 3rd, at 8 PM, Hartefakt House will host the panel discussion "Art adapted for people with disabilities." Over the weekend, we launched the Slavic Soundwalking mobile app, which, in addition to offering stories in four languages, also features a sign language option, ensuring accessibility for deaf and hard-of-hearing users.
The discussion will focus on advancements in adapting art for people with various disabilities, the power of individual initiatives to drive structural change within communities, whether inclusivity is merely a societal trend, and why only 1-2% of media content is translated into sign language. Panelists include:
🔸 Boris Dončić, editor of the audiobook studio at the Library of the Blind Union of Serbia and co-founder of “Digitas24,” a society for digital accessibility
🔸 Vojin Perić, director of the Theatre for the Blind and Visually Impaired "New Life" in Zagreb
🔸 Stojan Simić, contemporary dancer, choreographer, and educator (simultaneous translation by Vera Jovanović, president of the Serbian Sign Language Interpreters Association)
The discussion will be moderated by Tara Manić, a theater director whose doctoral artistic project explored the perception and imagination of dramatic literature by blind and visually impaired individuals.
The panel will take place live at Hartefakt House and will also be available via livestream on social media.
This panel is part of the Slavic Soundwalking project, co-funded by the European Union through the Creative Europe program. 🇪🇺
