The goal of the project is to promote cultural and linguistic diversity, inclusion, and easier access to literary content through digital technology. Slavic Soundwalking is a free mobile literary-sound app, which only activates during walks through public spaces in Ljubljana, Zagreb, or Belgrade.<\/p>\n<p>Seventy-five writers from Slovenia, Croatia, and Serbia were invited by three editors to write exclusive short stories for this app. The stories are translated into five languages, including sign language, and are interpreted by professional actors. Each story is accompanied by a unique musical and sound background, immersing the listener in the world of storytelling. Users can download the app from Google Play or the Apple Store and access the sound stories while walking through Ljubljana.<\/p>\n<p>At the press conference, we will present the international project and the mobile app, highlighting the example of good practice in involving vulnerable groups, especially the deaf and hard of hearing, in the project. We will also emphasize the importance of making cultural content accessible to all.<br \/>\nAdditionally, we will introduce the program for promoting the mobile literary-sound app, which will take place between September 30 and October 11 in Ljubljana.<br \/>\nSpeakers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mag. You are invited to learn about sign language at the premises of the Ljubljana Deaf Society.<br \/>\nWorkshop leader: <strong>Indira Vehbi\u0107<\/strong>, Secretary and expert worker at the Ljubljana Deaf Society.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ATRIJ ZRC SAZU, Novi trg 2<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>19:00 Sounds and Movements of Diversity: Discussion on the Monograph by Alma Bejtullahu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The discussion between the author, <strong>Dr. Alma Bejtullahu<\/strong>, and journalist and anthropologist <strong>Tja\u0161a Stani\u010d<\/strong> will be followed by a short music program performed by the Migjeni Association music group.<\/p>\n<p>With the monograph <em>&#8220;Musical and Dance Activities of Women with Immigrant Backgrounds in Slovenia&#8221;<\/em>, ethnomusicologist Alma Bejtullahu aims to shed light on what is lesser-known to the general public. There is, in fact, a vibrant and diverse musical and dance activity among immigrant minorities in Slovenia, particularly from the Western Balkans, where the participation of women is key. A significant part of this creation stems simply from a love for music and dance of their own culture. This activity is either organized within numerous amateur cultural associations or is the individual work of female musicians who have become recognized on the Slovenian ethno-music scene. The monograph is co-published by the Institute of Ethnomusicology at ZRC SAZU and the Danilo Ki\u0161 Cultural Center at Zalo\u017eba ZRC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>October 2<br \/>\nSlovene Writers&#8217; Association, Tom\u0161i\u010deva ulica 12<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>17:30 Literary Walk I: Creative Writing Workshop with Vesna Lemai\u0107<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The workshop is intended for anyone wishing to improve their skills in writing short stories, learn the basics of literary creation, and address more practical questions that accompany the process, such as structuring a text. Participants will gain knowledge to transition from intuitive to deliberate, focused writing. Depending on their interests, they will be introduced to a variety of approaches to the text and different literary techniques to convey ideas. No prior experience is required.<br \/>\nRegistrations are accepted at: kulturnicenterkis@dkis.si until the ten spots are filled.<br \/>\nVesna Lemai\u0107 graduated in Comparative Literature. She introduced herself as a writer with her debut <em>Popular Stories<\/em> (2008). This was followed by novels <em>Landfill<\/em> (2010), <em>The Hen and the Birds<\/em> (2014), and the short story collections <em>Welcome<\/em> (2018) and <em>He Twitched, She Opened Her Eye<\/em> (2022). She also wrote a children&#8217;s book, <em>Elephant&#8217;s Adventures in the Savannah<\/em> (2023). She has received the Slovene Book Fair debut prize, the Fabula Award, the Golden Bird Award for literature, and the Novo mesto short prize. This is not just about translation but also about interpreting, disseminating knowledge about Ki\u0161, and a deep understanding of his poetics. Danilo Ki\u0161 was also an extraordinary translator himself. The conversation promises an insight into the workshop of a great writer, the secrets of his approach, and the life of his work. Writers, translators, and book lovers are warmly invited to the event! The conversation will be held in Serbian, with simultaneous translation into Slovenian.<\/p>\n<p>Pascale Delpech graduated in Russian, Serbo-Croatian, and Balkan Anthropology. As a literary translator, she received the Halp\u00e9rine Kaminsky Cons\u00e9cration Award (2013); she has translated all of Danilo Ki\u0161&#8217;s works into French, as well as several novels and collections of stories by Ivo Andri\u0107 (Nobel Prize 1961) and other Serbian and Croatian authors. She worked as a translator for the French presidency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as for the OSCE and UN during the Yugoslav wars. She was a cultural advisor at the French Embassy in Kosovo and Serbia and later the director of the Alliance Fran\u00e7aise in Shanghai. She continues to translate and, as a partial copyright holder, manages Danilo Ki\u0161&#8217;s legacy worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Anthropologist and Doctor of Ancient Studies <strong>Dr. Svetlana Slap\u0161ak<\/strong> has taught at numerous universities in Yugoslavia, Europe, and the U.S. She was a professor of Ancient World Anthropology, Gender Studies, and Balkan Studies (2003\u201312) and also served as Dean (2003\u201313) at ISH (Institutum Studiorum Humanitatis). The workshop will involve practical exercises and the exchange of ideas. Students and all language lovers interested in exploring the rich connections between South Slavic and French languages are welcome. His face was not the first thing that the wide audience recognized. He was a master of vocal modulation.
